Cut Through the Noise

"...it will cut through the noise for those who need to hear it."
Anne Holloway

I had just posted an amateurish music video to Facebook—a slideshow of photos from a hike with my son, and a song I had written that day. Usually, when I post something like that, I get a few likes and hearts, and maybe a generic comment. But this particular friend, Anne, said that my song was the very thing she needed that morning when she woke up. I told her how much I appreciated her words. I also lamented about how I never know if what I post is reaching anyone.

Artist Highlights May 2020: Marena and Mo

"The more important a call or action is to our soul's evolution, the more Resistance we will feel toward pursuing it." –Steven Pressfield, War of Art.

I am so dang encouraged by the high level of participation happening inside the membership right now. We are on our seventh 100-day challenge since we started in the Spring of 2017. By day 60, the daily postings usually have waned, but we are still going strong! I am proud of everyone who is hanging in there.

We are hosting another open mic this Sunday, April 26th from 3-5pm (CDT)!

How to Upload Audio From iPhone Voice Memo App

One of our members just asked an excellent question: how do you upload audio to the membership site directly from your iPhone?

It requires one little step. You have to create a folder on you iPhone, save your audio to that folder, and then upload your audio to the site from there. I created a quick video on how to do it. You probably need the most recent update from apple.

Be Selfish.

"The people who get what they’re after are very often the ones who just stick around long enough."—Austin Kleon Show Your Work!

Imagine if you stuck around for yourself?

If you want to build a creative habit you have to believe that you are worth sticking around for. You have to believe that your heart, mind, and creative source are worth taking care of. If you don't take care of it, it will get taken care of by the loudest voices in your life. The loudest voices in my life are inside my head, "...don't be selfish," or "...just one more episode," or "just one more handful of pretzels..."

I believe that inside of you, me, and of every other person on this planet, is a well of creativity that is deeper than the boundaries of any imagination. When you take care of it, it takes care of you. And then you can take care of others. Is that being selfish?

They say, "love your neighbor as yourself." I say, "Love yourself. Then love your neighbors."

Take care of your creative spark and it will turn you into a shining beacon. Your work will light the way for others on their own journey.
