Kick off your 100 days of songwriting with a bunch of workshops put on by our resident Berklee professor and Nashville producer, Shane Adams. Here's the plan:
Week 1 - 100 Days kick-off and daily prompts to get the juices flowing.
Week 2 - Shane's Mozart Method - designed to help you brainstorm titles and lyric ideas. Generate 20 - 30 titles and lyric ideas in 10 minutes.
Week 3 - Chord and Melody Speed Dating - Learn how to augment your melodies with emotional chord choices.
Week 4 - Chorus Survival Guide - We will learn chorus forms, title placement, the power of title and hook placement in a chorus, and emphasizing keywords using the downbeat.
Showcase - Write a song during Shanetember and submit it to be showcased.
During each workshop in Shanetember, we will do drawings for one-on-one sessions with Shane, a copy of his book - "Singer Songwriter's Guide to Recording," and 100 DOS swag from our store!
Starting September 10
100 Days of Songwriting is a motivational and inspirational community that helps songwriters, composers, lyricists, and producers get into the habit of writing, sharing, and collaborating so that we all move the needle forward—finish songs, share albums and illumine the gifts we have been given.
All are welcome. It doesn’t matter your race, sexual orientation, belief system, age, experience level, or genre of music, you have a place here.
How it Works
Everyone comes up with their own songwriting rule. This challenge is not a song-a-day competition. It can be any activity related to songwriting: lyrics, brainstorming, melodies, chords, etc.
We post our work inside of a judgment-free private community. 100 day challenges and EP challenges are held twice a year with additional activities offered in-between (workshops, open mics, and collaborations).
