I am ridiculously excited to announce our first scholarship. I've been dreaming about this day for the last two years, and now it's a reality! When we moved our community from free to paid, some songwriters either couldn't afford to join or couldn't afford to stay long-term because of their financial situation. Here are some examples of the circumstances people find themselves in:

• Single parent
• Too young to have a steady job
• Underpaid professional musician
• Fixed income or retired
• Live in a country where the exchange rate makes it unaffordable

Creating a scholarship fund not only benefits the songwriter in financial need, but benefits our community by ensuring we stay inclusive and diverse. We want our community to be an expression of all people, regardless of socioeconomic status.

Our scholarship is for one year of membership. The number of scholarships we award will depend on how much we raise. The current yearly subscription (as of August 2022) is $250.00. I aim to raise $500 by August 26th. As of today, we are almost halfway there, thanks to the generosity of community members.
